Dreaming Away Your Life
A NOTE FROM THE ARTIST:
Advertising is a well of inspiration for me. This bikini-clad figure was an image that passed me by, on some billboard in some Summer in New York not too long ago.
In my mind, Hero cries her tears into the swimming pool because she recognizes it’s not even Summer, really, anymore. It’s actually August, which we all know isn’t really Summer. It’s the death of Summer.
So, she smiles and tries to hold on to the dream of Summer. “Dreaming Away Your Life” is a lyric from a Lana Del Rey song I was listening to on repeat while painting this scene.
This happy-sad, life and death, “Summertime Sadness” feeling is like catnip for a moody artist like me. So, here it is in electric-colored paint.
